Talk to people around the towns and areas. Many of them have interesting things to say, such as a hint or information.
Certain people have a '!' above their head, which will lead you into a side quest. Each one you complete will reward you with a nice gift: a Heart Chunk, some cash, or a Stamina Chunk!
Side Quest 1: Chicken Catchin'Location: PuebluchoNeed: NothingReward: Heart Chunk
Description: Talk to the fellow named Pollo outside the church after you save Fray from the skull enemies. This is quite a cruel chore – he wants you to put his chickens back in his cage at his house. The house is located below the church on the right side.
Hit the chickens a couple times to enable you to pick them up – this allows you to throw them in any direction. Most of them will seemingly run to the cage after a couple hits, with the exception of the ones hanging around on the bottom floor.
Side Quest 2: The Action FigureLocation: PuebluchoNeed: Dimension SwappingReward: Heart Chunk
Description: You'll run into a skull girl in one of the houses in the Dead World. She's quite saddened at the misplacing of her Luchador Figure. Funny thing is, the toy is underneath her (in the basement). How do you get it, you ask? Swap the worlds!
Side Quest 3: Long Lost Band MemberLocation: Santa LuchitaNeed: Dashing PunchReward: Heart Chunk
Description: The musical players are missing a member of their band. The hidden fellow his located inside the house at the very bottom section of town (near the cavern entrance). Break apart the blue block on the wall to discover him in a secret room.
Side Quest 4: Combo Chicken Boxer!Location: Santa LuchitaNeed: All abilities (for all sets)Reward(s): Heart Chunk, Stamina Chunk, Cash
Description: Head to the Combo Chicken's Gym on the top part of town. Here you can practice some new move sets to improve your fighting skills! Since the button cues are displayed on the top of the screen, a move list wouldn't be apparent here.
There are a total of four sets of his training, and roughly three to five steps in most of 'em. Take notice that each time you learn a new ability, you can come back here to continue a new training session.
It's a good idea to increase your Stamina gauge to make these button sequences easier, so ensure to scout for some Stamina Chunks as you return here later!
Side Quest 5: The Lady CookLocation: Santa LuchitaNeed: Dimension SwappingReward(s): Heart Chunk
Description: Chat with Isabela at Isabela's Kitchen on the upper- west part of town. She'll need a bunch of ingredients for her specialty!
All the folks that carry the ingredients needed are in Santa Luchita (in both worlds, by the way), and shouldn't take too long to find them.
When you acquire each ingredient, return it to Isabela, and she'll ask for the next one.
Ingredient #1 (Cheese): Talk to the man wearing a hat on the bottom area of town (near the cavern's entrance). He'll give you the Cheese.
Ingredient #2 (Beans): Approach the lady carrying the pepper tray below the kitchen (on the west side). She grants you Beans.
Ingredient #3 (Chiles): Shift dimensions and have a chat with the skeleton man with the hat in the Dead World (he's standing on a ledge in the central area of town). He'll give you the hot 'n' spicy Chiles!
Ingredient #4 (Tortillas): The lady standing in the base of the Inn (with the pink dress) will give you a bunch of Tortillas. She is in the Living World, wearing a pink dress.
Side Quest 6: Missing BrotherLocation: Santa LuchitaNeed: Dimension Swapping, Polymorph PowerReward: Heart Chunk
Description: In the 'Super Siesta Inn' building, a girl claims her brother went missing. (Check the cool dialogue here referencing Zelda.)
Transform into a chicken using the Polymorph Power, and then squeeze through the small opening leading to the room to the left of her. You'll hear a voice from the basement below.
Now, enter the Inn from the lower entrance and shift dimensions into the Dead World. Go inside the lower-left room, and then switch back to the Living World. Here you'll discover her lost brother named Error (resembling the character from Zelda 2!). He's fine, so inform his sister and she'll give you a Heart Chunk!
![]() Side Quest 7: Treasure ManLocation: Santa LuchitaNeed: Polymorph PowerReward(s): Heart Chunk
Description: Near the entrance to the desert (NE), a fellow will mention he's a treasure hunter. Come back and speak to him after completing the Temple of War; he'll try to award you with a gift, but a pesky little chicken will come by and steal it.
The thief's hideout is the very first house you see when you enter the town from the forest. Form into a chicken and talk to him (he'll be standing still).
You remember the game Metal Gear Solid?well Solid Snake was a, so if you remember what the story was about, you'll find out exactly what a Soldier of Fortune does. Other terms are Mercenary, and Pawn. Meaning of soldier of fortune.
Two of his identical friends will join in on a guessing game. You're required to guess which one of the three is the real Chicken Thief. It's random, but you shouldn't have a problem with the first two segments.
The last segment requires more of luck, since they move quickly. You either (1) need to have amazing eyes, or (2) play the game multiple times!
The Mask Pieces (Orbs)
The most-hidden gems of Guacamelee! are the Mask Pieces, also known as the Mask Orbs. These are kept in secret doorways leading to the Chac Mool area.
There are a total of SIX pieces to collect on your venture (the last one being obtained from the final boss).
Not only will it grant you the ability to move faster, but it also allows you to fly as you transform into a chicken! Furthermore, you'll also witness the REAL ending of Guacamelee!
Note: Scouting for these Mask Pieces is by far the MOST challenging part of this game. Because the obstacles rely on skills and practice, it's up to you to make it through them!
Mask Piece #1Location: Agave FieldNeed: Dimension Swapping, Polymorph Power
Description: Once you acquire the three abilities noted above, head back to Juan's house in Agave Field. Inside, go into the basement and shift dimensions (stand near the soccer ball in the right corner as you do this).
Now, form into a chicken to fit into a small passage leading to a maze. Navigate through the maze (start off by going right), which will lead you to the Chac Mool door. From there, snag the first Mask Piece from the statue.
Mask Piece #2Location: Forest de ChivoNeed: Dimension Swapping, Goat Fly
Description: Want to know what that skull lever does on the upper section of the forest? Activate it and then quickly run up to the hill above ground. Pick the nearest wall and Goat Fly way back to the beginning of the forest (west; where the Pueblucho sign is).As you do this, shift the dimension into the Dead World. A statue near the forest's entrance will have moved as well.
You should run into a block with spikes during your fly. Slide down the block and drop into the small opening on the ground below. The passage leads to a Chac Mool door, and the second Mask Piece.
Mask Piece #3Location: Sierra MountainNeed: Goat Fly, Double Jump, Rooster Uppercut
Description: On the mountains first level, go to the east end leading outside. You'll notice a huge gap from the cliff. Once you acquire the Goat Fly, fly over this long stretch to gain access to the Chac Mool door.
This area requires a little skill: You need to work your way across the platforms that disappear repeatedly. Each section gets more challenging, so keep practicing!
Also, be sure to use the Rooster Uppercut, the Dashing Punch, and the Double Jump – it's the only way you'll make it!
Mask Piece #4Location: Caverna del PolloNeed: Dimension Swapping, Rooster Uppercut, Olmec's Headbutt, Dashing Punch, Frog Splash, Goat Climb
Description: First and foremost, you'll need to have most of the abilities from this point, as the wave of enemies will have differentiated-shields – and it'll make the fights easier.
Additionally, I suggest building up your Stamina and Health gauges, as the last set of battles get pretty crazy.
The cavern is located on the southeast (bottom-right) part of Santa Luchita. Smash the yellow block apart with your headbutt maneuver to gain entry.
Each gauntlet will open up a new pathway further in the cavern, and also reward you each time. This is all about your fighting skills, so let's hope you've trained at Combo Chicken's Gym!
You will obtain the following items for each victory:- Gauntlet One: Heart Chunk- Gauntlet Two: Stamina Chunk and Heart Chunk- Gauntlet Three: Mask Piece
Mask Piece #5Location: Tule TreeNeed: All abilities
Description: There's a blue block near the beginning resting on the ceiling. Smash it open and Goat Climb up the wall (while plowing through the other blocks). You'll arrive in the 'Tree Top' area.Note: Be prepared to swear, grind your teeth, and take deep breathes, as this is the real skill-tester!
Making it through the series of trails can be aggravating, but take your time to learn each challenge.
Use all your abilities here to advance. The biggest thing in order to succeed is shifting the worlds frequently while looking at your next obstacle ahead of you. That, and you've got to be quick on your fingertips!
For the last section (with the spinning blades), I recommend using Goat Fly instead of wall-jumping inside the clustered-area. As long as you fly to a protective wall (while shifting the worlds in midair), you can fling back and forth and get through. It may take longer, but there's a lesser chance you'll run into the blades!
![]() Mask Piece #6Location: Great TempleNeed: Five Mask Pieces
Description: Once you acquire the five Mask Pieces listed above, head to the Great Temple and face off against Calaca. Defeating him will earn you the sixth and final Mask Piece, and will also give you the 'real' ending.
Easter Eggs and Other SecretsZelda 2
Although this was already noted in the Side Quest section, I figured it deserved a second mention.
Yes, Zelda fans, Error – the villager in the Town of Ruto from Zelda 2 – makes a special appearance in this game! Somehow, he got caved-in when the Santa Luchita's Inn was built. You can find him in the basement.
Worth noting, his sister talks about how he once ended up in a world where a hero in a green tunic was off to save a princess and prevent an evil pig from being resurrected!
Mega Man and Majora's Mask
In Pueblucho, there's a poster on one of the buildings labeled 'La Mascara vs. Mega Hombre.' If you look at it closely, the two characters resemble Mega Man and the antagonist of the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask!
Super Mario Bros.
In Santa Luchita, you can find a poster titled 'Tag Team #1: Los Super Hermanos,' referencing Mario and Luigi!
Castle Crashers
A poster is labeled 'Los Casa Crashers' on the west side of Santa Luchita, referencing Castle Crashers.
Princess Peach (Mario Bros.)
After you outrun the large beast in the Temple of Rain (and put him away a la Mario Bros.), X'tabay will apologize to you, because your princess is in another castle!
Hidden Rooster
Discover a small passage on the left wall of Santa Luchita (above the 'Angry Rooster Sauce' sign). Go through it as a chicken. Beyond the passage is a giant rooster. He will pay you $250 to keep his hiding spot a secret!

Is a heavily-stylized for the, PC and developed by Drinkbox Studios. The game draws its inspiration from traditional Mexican culture and folklore. Builds upon the classic open-world Metroidvania style of games, by adding a strong melee combat component, a, and cooperative same-screen multiplayer for the entire story. The game also blurs the boundaries between combat and platforming by making many of the moves useful and necessary for both of these. The game was released on April 9, 2013 in North American territories, just five days after the release date was announced. The Super Turbo Championship Edition version was announced, and has been released for,. Poncho: Arghlrharh#@.&.: Despite her status as the Mask's Guardian, first showing up in the World of the Dead, and wearing a mystical mask herself, La Tostada's identity, origin, or even motivations (beyond simply helping Juan out of the goodness of her heart) are never explained.
The Super Turbo Championship Edition seems to give her some backstory though; Tostada was once a hero who helped save her fellow villagers from being killed by an erupting volcano, performing a. They live in Canal de las Flores now and have memorialized her. There are wooden carvings of Tostada scattered around the area as well.: The Super Turbo Championship Edition includes the original game's DLC, adds new levels and bosses, the technique, (The, and ).: The background music will segue between two different versions depending on whether you're in the living or dead world. The living world's version tends to be a bit jauntier and energetic, and the dead world's version is a bit eerie.: You have the option of bringing a dead little girl her favorite doll from the living world.:. You can kick, punch, bash, grab, and smash chickens (and even their tiny baby chicks!) to your heart's content. Unlike, they'll just run away.
If you finish Combo Chicken's challenges, wherein you use the good-natured skeleton luchador Poncho as your punching bag, the last combo proves too much for him and he dies for real. Turns out he was Combo Chicken's only friend. The method you obtain power-ups is this.
It's made clear that the Goat Hermit's statues are priceless, important artifacts.and you have to destroy them in order to force the Hermit to teach you new moves. He is not happy about this arrangement. When playing co-op, players can leave a single enemy alive and have one player grab the mook and throw it to the other player, who can also grab the mook and throw it back, this doesn't seem to increase damage or anything and with proper timing, players can spend a good while playing catch with the helpless victim.:.
The Goat Hermit eventually gets back at you for breaking his statues and awards you for breaking one of them with. (complete with the typical splash screen, but with 'NO POWER' written on it and Juan and Tostada standing there looking frustrated.).: Pops up whenever the player gets into a boss fight, and ◊.: The other reason Calaca wants El Presidente's Daughter. Is what she has to say.: Flame Face, especially on Hard Mode. He uses guns and is rather fast, he also sics enemies on you, in Hard, periodically while shooting and charging at you and unlike X'tabay his fight has no checkpoints. He also uses a few flame attacks, which cover the entire floor but are easy to dodge if you switch dimensions or cling to the wall.: You can get this as a movement upgrade later on. An also explains that while your luchador slowly slides off the wall if you don't press anything, you can cling to the wall indefinitely by pushing towards its direction.: Both endings have a montage of what became of the characters afterwards. Whether Juan's beloved is with him or not is up to you.: X'tabay is not entirely pleased with the way Calaca obsesses over El Presidente's Daughter.
After beating her, she decides Calaca isn't worth her time and gives Juan the ability to switch between the Living and Dead Worlds at will, then disappears for the rest of the game. She shows up in the credits, indicating that she and Juan have become friends.: Jaguar Javier treats Juan like this.: Naturally. You start out with the ability to kick and punch, and after stunning an enemy, grab it and toss it. You can also buy further wrestling techniques like piledrivers and backdrops.: No matter what you do, how fast you get there, or how many Mask pieces you've collected, you can never stop Carlos' ritual, nor you can prevent El Presidente's Daughter's death.
